Gleann Mor Spirits Company enjoyed triple success at the recent 2018 London Spirits Competition.
The inaugural competition, which was organised by US company Beverage Trade Network, focuses on the quality, value for money and packaging & design of spirits. Sid Patel, CEO of Beverage Trade Network, explained what makes the London Spirits Competition unique:
“At all the other major competitions, spirits are judged solely on the quality of what’s in the bottle. We wanted to take a different approach, by asking our judges to look at spirits the way spirits drinkers do, adding appearance and value for money into the mix.”
The Competition attracted attention from across the world, with award-winning distilleries from the UK competing with entrants from as far afield as the US, Australia, Japan, Fiji and Brazil. Entrants were split into individual categories for each spirit, whilst medals were also awarded for best quality, value, package, distillery and overall spirit of the year.
Gleann Mor’s earned the Silver Medal Award in the Liqueurs Category with a 15-Year-Old Whisky Liqueur made with whisky from Speyside’s finest distillery, whilst in the Gin Category both FIRKIN Gin and Glasgow Gin earned the same recognition. The three Silver Medal Awards add to Gleann Mor’s growing reputation, having previously tasted success at the Scottish Gin Awards, World Gin Awards and the International Wine and Spirits Competition.
Derek Mair, founder of Gleann Mor Spirits, was delighted with the awards: “We’re proud to have received three Silver Medal Awards at the London Spirits Competition. It’s a great competition that attracted entries from all over the world so to be successful is brilliant. Furthermore, it’s fantastic for us to see Glasgow Gin earn its first major recognition less than six months after launching. Hopefully it will be the first of many.”
